Casting a net
The assignment for this home – instructions from the agent – was to shoot as wide as possible for every room. The widest lens I own is a Sigma 10 – 20mm zoom, which on my Nikon D7000 equates to an effective focal length of 15mm. This is generally considered too wide for architectural / real estate photography, but as they say in the service industry…. “The client is always right, just so long as their check clears.”
The home is in the Rob Roy subdivision just outside Austin. I wish I could have stayed there all day, as this is the type of home from which portfolios are made. I would have shot the entire place twice given time, once the assigned way, and once my way. But as things often work out, this was but one shoot on a busy schedule; neither the homeowners or my personal schedule allowed much time for dawdling.

Here’s a showcase listing for Rupa Caramelli of Keller Williams. This home has been remodeled recently, and they spared no expense. The Master Suite on the second floor boasts a spacious bathroom, a balcony overlooking the back yard, and an attached nursery. I kept her there a bit longer than I had promised, but this house was so much fun to shoot, I found it difficult to leave!

In Lawless territory
No, we haven’t moved to Deadwood. Not yet, anyway. We did, however, visit the Mueller (pronounced “Miller” for my out-of-town readers) Redevelopment to photograph a home on Lawless Drive for Wendy Papasan. Wendy is a true and certain real estate guru, and this shoot is being treated as an audition. Wish me luck!

Chris Frickel steps up to the plate…
I’d like to welcome SWMC agent AND youth baseball coach Chris Frickel to my list of clients. Chris has a gorgeous new listing in the Highpointe subdivision in Hays County. This home features a mother-in-law floor plan, tons of space, and a game room/media room suite on the second floor that is sure to please everyone.
