Casting a net
The assignment for this home – instructions from the agent – was to shoot as wide as possible for every room. The widest lens I own is a Sigma 10 – 20mm zoom, which on my Nikon D7000 equates to an effective focal length of 15mm. This is generally considered too wide for architectural / real estate photography, but as they say in the service industry…. “The client is always right, just so long as their check clears.”
The home is in the Rob Roy subdivision just outside Austin. I wish I could have stayed there all day, as this is the type of home from which portfolios are made. I would have shot the entire place twice given time, once the assigned way, and once my way. But as things often work out, this was but one shoot on a busy schedule; neither the homeowners or my personal schedule allowed much time for dawdling.
Unique Lakefront Estate in Freeport
Heidi Allbritton is the bomb. Here’s a new listing for her the likes of which I’ve never seen. It’s not enough that there’s a cool, 1960s vintage house with a sunroom, screened in swimming pool, detached three-car garage, a barn and a workshop. Heck, we expect that much out of Heidi. But how about the fact that all of these buildings sit on a 62 acre parcel including a 40-acre salt water lake? This property would make an amazing corporate retreat! The grounds are tended by a full time gardener, and it shows. We made a virtual tour for this one, which can be seen here.

Under the pines in Pearland
This home was recently remodeled – courtesy of Hurricane Ike – and the benefit will go to the buyers. The floors downstairs are beautiful hardwoods; the master suite has been completely updated. And there’s a lovely pool in the over-sized back yard!

Skyline Drive in Silvercreek
Kim Goodman strikes again. This is an expansive single-story home in the Silvercreek community. The Master Bath alone is worth the price of admission.

Lots of space in Lake Pointe
Here are a few highlights from the Berno Group’s new listing in Silverlake. This four bedroom home has lots of space for the whole family. Privacy was in mind from conception.

You’re Not Dreaming!
This luxury home in Shadow Creek Ranch is the personal residence of real estate broker LaResa Bray. This home has everything – formal living & dining, a chef’s dream kitchen and a master bathroom the size of an eastern state. A wonderful place to photograph! Thanks, Kimberly, for the introduction.

Life is good in the Galleria
Another luxury condo, marketed by Sudhoff Properties. This is a ground floor 2/2/ condo in the Lofts on Post Oak development. Living here is like staying in a resort. I really like the concrete floors in the common areas.
